★⸻𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒂𝒃𝒊⸻★ Askabi couldn't stay away.
It had been maybe a week at the most since he watched Mosi dash off into the trees after the baying of a possible client. Her memory was burned into his brain, he could still feel her gentle kiss on his face. He had spent those final days with the Ah'mir pack, trying to convince himself there was a reason he was there.
The most disappointing feeling was realizing he had no reason to be there anymore. His mother had passed, he had been betrayed. He was at the lowest status in the troop. Mosi's words were swirling through his cerebrum, reminding him that he had a way out. What if he came to regret it? He had to shake these thoughts away, for he had only known the white she-dog a day, yet he trusted her as though he knew her a lifetime.
There was a dribble of rain, and he was appreciative that it would wash away his scent trail as he distanced himself from the Ah'mir pack. Though he was getting wet, he couldn't help but feel a sense of hope as he finally exited the territory of his former pack and stood still. His single eye looked to the sky, he felt his chest twist with anxiety. It was time to call her.
The shepherd mix raised his head and called, his voice solemn--it told a story of loss. It soon shifted octaves to mirror the howl Mosi had taught him. He had o tell himself it wasn't cowardly to leave the toxic situation he was in.
After his howl ended, the brute sat peacefully. Excitement rushed through him as he understood very soon he would be seeing Mosi and the future she had promised to bring him. He was both nervous and exhilarated to meet this Navira.

Mosi’rarimiri had been plagued with doubt since her meeting with Askabi and then Navira. After all, he had seemed amenable at the time, and she’d managed to convince Li’Navira to meet with him, but what if he changed his mind? After all, she’d fled the scene post-haste after her chaste kiss. Granted, she’d had good reason to, but what if that had turned him off of the whole thing? The thought had kept her up every night that she’d gone without hearing his howl.
Now, as a gentle drizzle began to wet the earth, she was painstakingly setting out bowls from her old human’s onto their back porch to gather the fresh water as it fell. Sure, there were plenty of water sources scattered around the city, but it’d be awfully nice to have a source right here at home. Her task was interrupted, though, by the howl she’d been waiting to hear: a mournful sound, one that made her heart pang before it shifted into the call she knew as well as the back of her own paw. It was time to fetch Navira.
She released a baying cry as she approached the prison, a small howl to alert the ever-present Why’o guard of her presence as she waited just outside. By a stroke of luck, the mottled chief wasn’t too busy at present, and it only took a few minutes before the two were heading towards the direction that Rapha’s howl had come.
It was, maybe, thirty minutes after his initial call that they arrived. Mosi locked tight all her misgivings and what-ifs, knowing that this meeting was far more important than her personal feelings. ”Askabi,” The name felt sour on her tongue, ”This is Li’Navira’e Hu’grair, chief of the Why’o clan. Navira, this is the dog I told you about before.” His true name was not hers to share. She was sure the large brute would divulge it if he felt it necessary, but for now she treated them both with a warm smile before taking a step back with a dip of her head.
Mosi would chime in if addressed, but knew that this was largely centered around Rapha’yona and Li’Navira. And, she thought with a sly little glance in the male’s direction, I am certain I will be able to catch him alone later.

| Need to rewrite this post, dang it! I accidentally wrote over it. Navira welcomed askabi by greeting him with a big sniff.

★⸻𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒂𝒃𝒊⸻★ When Askabi's pale gaze caught sight of Mosi he couldn't help the immediate smile that made its way to his muzzle. She was just as perfect as the first day he met her--goodness when had he fallen so deep? He took a shaky breath, understanding he needed to take a step back, but his heart was hammering away in his chest. He was like a foolish pup having their very first crush.
It was then he caught sight of the she-dog beside her. Though he was very sure she could pull off a threatening look if she wanted to, she currently looked kind. It made his muscles nearly melt with relief, which was terrifying in itself. Her kind eyes and waving tail were the opposite of the snarling Damien he was so used to seeing.
Askabi understood by the glint of hesitation in the leader's eyes that she knew of his story. He couldn't blame her for not putting her trust in him right away. He felt his shoulders roll as he promised himself he would prove to her that he was worthy.
It was then she was trotting right up to him and giving him a friendly sniff. It took everything in him not to flinch away or snap his teeth at her. Many moons of being the bait of fights was enough to make him nervous at close proximity. He gave a soft sniff at the air and was pleased by her gentle scent--Ah'mir pack members always seemed to smell of sharp herbs to him.
It only made him realize that he likely didn't smell all that great. He tried to not let that shake him. "It is very nice to meet you Navira." He was pleased to have remembered her name. He felt a million emotions pass him when he was told he would need to cut ties with Ah'mir. It was all he knew, but...
"There is nothing left for me there." A sad smile was now on his face as his pale gaze met Navira's face. He was so used to seeing irritation in the eyes of other canna when confronted with him--not including Mosi, of course. "I am ready for a new start--to prove myself to a worthy leader."
"My former name was Rapha'yona. However, Ah'mir will recognize me with that title as well. So you are more than welcome to give me a new name." He peered at her hopefully. To be named by the chief would solidify his membership. He had to keep himself from shaking; both from the rain and the anticipation.

| Navira took a step back and met the bedraggled mutt's remaining eye as he explained himself. She could see an earnest sadness there that led her to believe that he was telling the truth. There was nothing left in Ah'mir clan that would make him feel loyalty to them. Her doubts were fading. This dog would not betray her trust, she was sure of it. Despite the fact that he was deserting one clan for another, she had a feeling that he would not betray the Why'os once he joined their ranks as an equal.
"Alright then. I look forward to seeing what you have to offer the Why'o Clan." She said with a nod, though she couldn't be very serious in the face of such an exciting new installment for both her clan and this askabi. A great smile crossed her muzzle as gazed into the newcomers face and her tail wagged as if she were a pup planning a grand adventure with a new friend. She felt absolutely child-like. Perhaps inappropriate for a chief about to drop a bombshell on her clan...but she just could not shake the giddy feeling of being the one to offer this dog a fresh start in life.
The speckled leader raised her chin and looked the dog's rain drenched frame over one more time as he explained his name to her. He was right. He needed to be called by something new.
"We don't have very many Rapha to catch in Why'o territory, you'd just confuse everyone. You'll have to find a new rama'jai." She half-joked. "And we won't have you join our clan as an askabi. That's all behind you now. You will be introduced to the clan as Ipidi'hu. Speaking of..." She glanced up at the rainy sky and then at Mosi, speaking to her as well. "I think it's time we go and get dry, don't you think?"
It was time to truly invite her new clanmate home.
