A hard light filtered in through the cracks and crevices of the walls. Broken fragments lined the structure thanks to the great Rozo'ama Akoda. The memory of that day still shook the medium-sized canna to his core. He had been buried alive, though he had nearly come to believe he had died and was in some sort of purgatory. The idea of a hellish afterlife was accentuated by the arrival of that rambunctious white doberman. Hara'Mukha was surprised she didn't cause him any more injuries with her excited and buffoonish nature. However, as annoying as she may be, it was due to her and a few others that he was even alive today. Helpful canna from across Kah'ren had managed to dig the grumpy Elkhound from his untimely grave and escort him to the safety of their home base. Hara had never been much of a clan dog, but these folks did not seem like a half bad bunch.
He, of course, had not escaped the wreckage unscathed. The same could be said of many others. For the past few weeks he had been lain about in a make-shift infirmary. The lack of an option to leave had put a seemingly permanent damper on the canine's mood. His hind leg had been dislocated during the earthquake, falling debris knocking it loose as well as cracking it in a few areas. The leg was still painful to stand on, and Hara would refuse to put any weight on that paw if he could help it.
The dark ears atop the male's head perked and his eyes rolled at the sound of a familiar stride making its way towards him. 'Here we go,' he thought silently to himself. The clan's shadowspeaker had left Hara with a sour taste in his mouth. She seemed so... how could he put it? Full of herself? As was common with high ranking cannirozers. The great sense of honor she seemed to emanate from her mere presence was enough for the hound to find her off-putting.
"What do you want now,?" he asked bluntly in his gruff voice before she had even gotten the chance to enter the small room.

We never know what choices will lead to defining moments in our lives Many hounds had been injured by the Rozo'ama Akoda. As the Why'O Clan's shadowspeaker and one of their few healers, it had fallen to her to care for the wounded. It was one of many innumerable tasks left in the wake of the devastating event. While she took great pride in her work, the thick-furred fae was still saddened by the amount of injured known and unknown. The canna she was visiting now was one such victim of the quake. As he was one of the worst injured by the disaster, she always made sure to visit him daily and ensure his comfort. Striding down the halls, before she could even reach the room, the voice of one such injured reached her ears. Despite the gruffness, Udu'e smiled. The brute must still be doing well if he had enough energy to call out to her. "I see we're energetic," she said serenely with a light tease as she entered the room. As rough as he was, in their time together, she'd gotten used to his dour nature. Inspecting the room, she cleared away any excess debris that had gathered, shoving it all away with her nose. Satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, she sat next to Hara'Mukha, "How are you doing today? Any better? Less pain?" Notes and things can go here

The silver striped male didn't bother to sit up upon the arrival of the clan's shadowspeaker. He couldn't even be bothered to lift his head from his front paws as she entered the room.
"I see we're energetic."
His brown eyes rolled at the comment. A sour huff escaped his nose, blowing dirt from the concrete floor up in front of his dark, greyed muzzle. There she went again, just like all the other canna in this Rot'zo forsaken clan, trying to be friendly. Hara'Mukha had no need for friends. He had no need for companions of any kind. After all, he had been on his own thus far in his life anyhow. What was the point in changing now? His ears flattened at the thought. Things had to change now, things had become different, and there was nothing that could be done about it now.
Hara hadn't seen it for himself but he had heard others speaking and whispering. The landscape around the town had changed since the Rozo'ama akoda. There was no escaping anymore. Though, the elkhound would not believe it until he had seen it with his own eyes.
"How are you doing today? Any better? Less pain?" the merle canna added after tidying up the area a bit.
"Eh, no t'anks t' you an' yer Why'o 'ealers." he replied gruffly. Bracing himself on his stick-thin legs, he lifted his body into a stand. He held himself up proudly for a brief time - holding his head high and his tail curled healthily over his back - savoring his momentary triumph, though attempting to hide the lack of weight he was applying to his sore hind leg.
His dark ears folded back as his body began to betray him. His tail unfurled and drooped as his legs began to wobble. Being cooped up by his own volition for the past month had done the brute no favors. His eyes narrowed in annoyance as he dropped quickly into a sit, unsure even if he had done so by choice or lost all strength in his hind legs for a brief moment.
"Aya! Yer Why'o herbs an' met'ods er no good!" he concluded in an angry yelp, quick to blame anyone and anything but himself.

[googlefont=Righteous][googlefont=Vast Shadow] We never know what choices will lead to defining moments in our lives Gruff as Hara'Mukha was, she didn't find it unappealing. Udu'e knew quite a few canna with that same disposition. Her twin had taken on the name Likal'e Tir because of his thorny nature. She simply smiled in response, sweet and serene. Watching the grumpy dog try to stand, her tail thumped happily on the ground. It was wonderful progress that she welcomed. Even if it wasn't perfect, the Shadowspeaker eyed the injured leg. He likely wasn't putting much weight on it and wouldn't for a while. She could see the displeasure plain on the canna's face. Nonetheless, Udu'e was pleased, "Well done." The irritable brute's words flowed off her pelt like water. Udu'e Canna'a always sought to maintain her composure no matter what she faced. A few harsh words wouldn't shake her. "It seems they have helped some at least," she conceded smoothly, "Rest and exercise will help with the rest." Little by little, the injured canna would build up his strength again. All that time not using his leg had weakened it. Their stick-like appearance proved that much. "Let's try again in a moment."

Dark tipped ears folded back in annoyance. Now she was mocking him? Well done, indeed - he had just fallen on his rump! Hara'Mukha's upper lip pulled back in an obvious display of disgust. 'Rest and exercise? You don't say?!' The brute swallowed his tongue to keep his silent thoughts just that - silent. It did not even cross his mind that other canna may need the encouragement or they may lack the basic knowledge of how to keep healthy. After all, nobody really thought about health and fitness unless they themselves became sick or injured.
He rolled his eyes at her comment regarding trying again. He didn't want to try again, his leg hurt and the Why'o medicine wasn't doing enough by his own standards. He let out another huff of annoyance before responding.
"Eh, mayb'eh you shou'd try gettin' beh'er herbs." His tail curled to its natural position upon his back as he spoke. "Yeh e'er heard o' the 'ealing plant wit' the yellow flo'ers? Smells like gr'und an' dir' an' is bih'er ta the taste."
Planting his paws firmly on the ground he raised himself to a standing position. His legs wobbling slightly as they held his weight. He postured to better prove his point - that he was better than Udu'e - and, raising a brow, gave her a wry smile. "Wot am I e'en sayin'? Uh c'urse ya don'. You Why'os prob'ly don' ev'n know aboot the glass 'ouses."
He took a few tentative steps forward, making sure to keep any weight off of his injured back leg. His smugness and drive to prove himself better than those around him was the only factor keeping his mind off of his sore joints.

[googlefont=Righteous][googlefont=Vast Shadow] We never know what choices will lead to defining moments in our lives Udu'e smiled serenely and watched Hara'Mukha with a slight tilt to her head. Yellow flowers. Smells like ground and dirt, she wasn't too sure about that one. Bitter to the taste. "Turmeric?" The description seemed to match the plant. She prided herself on her work. It wouldn't do to not meet expectations. "I can try to get some." Though, the glass houses the brute spoke of did worry her. Was it the greenhouses he meant? If that was the case, it would be difficult to fulfill his request. The greenhouses belonged to the Ah'mir. Venturing into another clan's territory, that was a clear violation. Hara'Mukha's wry smile was met with her own composed one. Her tail wagged in encouragement as the grouchy canna made another attempt. Rough as his words were, Udu'e tried not to let them get to her. It was almost oddly familiar with how her own brothers acted. "Don't push yourself too much," she warned, getting up from her sitting position. It was wonderful that he was walking again, but proceeding too quickly too soon could end up worsening his injury. For the moment, she walked close to him, ready to step in if he needed the support. Hara'Mukha's expression was that of stoic indifference. He let out a small huff at her response. Typical Udu'e Canna'a, always with her helpful demeanor and cooperative nature. He paused briefly at a thought. He hadn't seen any of those glass houses on his way in and around the town prior to being captured by one of the snags and thrown in that Rot'zo forsaken structure that had decided to crumple down around him and the other canna.
He looked at the collie with the spark of an idea glistening behind his dark eyes. "If ya git sum' sly canna togeh'her ya migh' be able ta raid the grimm cache," he suggested. Having had little to no instincts to avoid the humans in his younger years, Hara had stumbled into one of their shopping centers having been enticed by the fresh scents of foods. He had quickly been chased out and dealt a hard lesson that day, but surely in a place with so much abundance of edible items and other herbs would have the one he had mentioned to her.
Of course, the elkhound, himself, had no interest in invading a human building. Ever since those early life lessons regarding humans he had always opted to stay outside of their territories to the best of his ability. That was not to say that he was above wandering down a suburban street, passing by the many houses, and digging through their trashcans for any hidden treasures that caught the attention of his keen nose.
"Uh course I ain' gonna push 'yself too much! I know wot I can 'andle," he retorted. What was he, a ren? He rolled his eyes at her in an obvious display of disrespect as he padded towards the doorway the shadowspeaker had entered through. "In fact, I t'ink I'll go fer a wolk." His voice was snide and full of condescension. His legs wobbled and began to give way underneath him as his rump hit the concrete floor with a thump. A small cloud of dust formed around him from the sudden movement, the dirt flying up as it became unsettled. He turned his face away from the collie in a slight show of embarrassment. "Err, maybeh not. A nap seems a good opt'on too, if ih's all the same ta you."

[googlefont=Righteous][googlefont=Vast Shadow] We never know what choices will lead to defining moments in our lives Udu'e titled her head in thought over the suggestion. It might not be as difficult now as it had been in the past. The humans had all but disappeared from Kah'ren. "That might not be so difficult," she mused. Even the places the humans had frequented were vacant now. She would have to pose the idea to Navira. The collie's face was concerned as she walked with Hara'Mukha, "If you're sure," she whined. Hara was knowledgeable about healing, but his stubbornness caused her to worry. Just as in this moment. She could forgive his disrespect. She may have held a high station in the pack, but she didn't demand respect for it. All she wanted was for to guide her clanmates well and ensure the successful recovery of her patients whether they respected her or not. Her frown deepened. While a walk was a fine idea, she worried it was too soon for one. Hara wasn't the type to listen to her though. The best she could do was keep close and help as needed. Her concerns were confirmed when the elkhound's rump met the hard floor once more in a cloud of dust. As embarrassed as Hara was, Udu'e was just as relieved to hear the brute suggest a nap in place of a walk. The shadowspeaker nodded, "I think that's a wonderful idea." She waited for him to get comfortable. "Enjoy your rest," she said serenely with her usual gentle smile once the grumpy canine was settled. With those parting words, Udu'e left the room to attend to her other duties as Why'O shadowspeaker End Thread Notes and things can go here
