Sunshine poured down from the skies above. Well, not as much as the day prior, but far more than the past week or so. Rayli had almost started to believe that the rain would never stop. Then again, she would have been more than happy with that arrangement. The small pup absolutely adored the rain. Of course, it had been on a rainy day where she had met her new family. Though she hardly considered them "new." They were just her family as far as she was concerned. Life prior to the Ah'mir dogs had been scary and full of pain. Her belly had constantly been empty and her mind had been reeling non-stop trying to understand the world around her. Nothing had made sense. But Castor and Kahru made everything make sense.
Speaking of Castor, hadn't he told her not to wander too far from the base? The young mutt had never been very good with following orders. The idea of these things called "rules" still baffled her. Today had been nice outside, surely the ibizan could not fault her for stepping out? Especially if she wouldn't be tracking mud back inside when she would return.
As she trotted along she made sure to stop at every puddle she passed by. Some were far too murky and muddy, but if they were clear enough she would note the reflection within them. "Rayli," she'd comment blatantly, noting the face within the small pool before moving on to the next one. Sometimes she went so far as to be more descriptive with her observations. "Rayli'e inona'lendri," or sometimes just "Inona'lendri." The words didn't matter. What mattered was that all of the rens staring back at her looked the same.
Rushing waters sounded in her ears as she approached the river that marked the border of the Ah'mir territory. That was another thing she had yet to fully grasp the idea of - borders. Though she knew that Castor had warned both her and Kahru to be careful of the river.
Prancing up to the rapidly moving water, she peered over the edge hoping to see another face. Her whole body drooped in response as the water was moving at too quick of a pace for a proper reflection to show up. She let out a sigh and a little whine in her disappointment. Pouting, she dropped her rump onto the cold ground and kicked a rock into the water, watching it skip a bit in the current until it finally settled somewhere at the bottom. Slowly, she allowed her eyes to follow up past the other side of the river where she saw the shadowed form of another canna. Her whole body instantly perked up at the realization. They were so small. 'Nearly the size of a dira,' she thought, not understand the size difference that distance may make.
"Ren?!" she called out, shouting over the sounds of the rushing river. "Ren'e rayli?!"

In your eyes I see the eyes of somebody I knew before, long, long, long ago...

| Kanya might now belong "officially" to a clan, but that didn't mean that she was going to stick around their galu all day bored to tears when the sun was finally shining.
She'd been promised a mentor to teach her how to fight and hunt and all that stuff, but it hadn't happened yet. Nope, the clan leaders were apparently very busy with whatever it was that li'canna did. And by extension, so were all of the adult dogs that might otherwise give her something to do. She'd already explored every inch of every building in the railyard. And then she'd crept off to the forest. And now her hunt for adventure had led her to the big river that cut the land short.
There, curiosity had taken hold of the youngster and she'd found herself standing at the water's edge peering in, trying to spot a rapha or maru swimming around in the current. She was pretty disappointed to find that the river was running way too fast to spot anything right now. But - There was some kind of bird or something shrieking away out there on the far shore.
No, she realized with a fresh surge of curiosity. It was canna...and it was yelling at the top of its lungs. She squinted hard at the little figure. It was...short, like herself. It had tall ears like herself. It was a little louder than her though.
But hey, two could play this game.
"Hey there!" She yapped back over the sound of rushing water. "I dunno what you're saying, but you sound like a dying fli! Yak yak yak!" She playfully imitated the other ren's squawks, knowing that her own voice would be lost over the water. And then she laughed at her own silliness. This was too ridiculous not to giggle at.
| But I'm still trying to make my mind up. Am I free or am I tied up?

Pointed ears flopped to the side as she tilted her head in a mixture of confusion and an attempt to better hear the across-the-river counterpart. Unable to understand more than the attempted communication and a repeated "yak yak" noise, she rose to her feet. Her long tail wagged happily at the interaction, causing her whole body to follow in its strong sway as she responded in a heightened yell.
"What?!" she yipped, darting forward only half a step before jumping back, the tips of her toes spraying only a few droplets of water that had managed to attack her. With the swift, scampering movements she let out a "Aya!" of surprise before hopping from side to side - using only the front half of her body. With her hind legs firmly planted behind her, the excited little hop-dance of her front half was most certainly a strange sight to behold. However, the excitement had taken a firm hold of the small pup as she had never had a reflection mimic her sounds. They never made sounds back, actually. So this was a moment made for celebration. But still, she needed a better look. It only took her a brief moment to come to a solution.
Dropping into a play bow she again shouted over the rapids. "Nu kef! Follow!" With a wag of her tail she darted off to her right, following the river's path but keeping to her own shore. From a nearly forgotten memory she recalled a tighter section of water only a short distance from where she currently stood. With less of a distance between the two perhaps she could get a better view of this special reflection who spoke back.
As she neared her destination she slowed into a trot before finally taking the time to confirm whether or not the reflected canna had followed her.
