Soft, squelching ground would never had been Gru'e's top choice to go out hunting in. Of course, he would have never cared to hunt for this day's intended "prey." There had been murmurs and whispers about how little action had been taken since the disappearance of the clan's chief, Li'Greyo'miera. Of course, the first few days had been easy enough to put off. It wasn't unheard of for the chief to take extended outings while hunting. Often times returning with much larger lout than any single canna should be able to bring down. The thought sent a shiver up the shepherd's white furred spine. Li'Greyo certainly was a powerful canna to behold. But that no longer mattered as their chief had been officially named missing since earlier this morning.
In his absence, Gru'e had taken up the title of li'canna. Normally this honor would befall the rali'canna of the clan. Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately for Gru'e - Rali'Eliri'hassi had also gone missing. That had certainly been a welcomed surprise for the large shepherd. He would give the clan a couple of weeks to perform a thorough search before officially making the claim of li'canna in the missing dogs' stead. For, after those two, he was the highest ranking of the clan. But first, he must put forth a valiant effort to find the ayou'canna.
Having wandered out with a small handful of reinforcements, he intended to search the territory bit by bit over the next few weeks. But for now they should begin at the most obvious place of disappearance - the river. As the flooding rapids had been the greatest suspect of all of the current disappearances.
Pausing at the bank, he turned to face his fellow clan members. "Nu kef, u'canna!" he announced in his booming baritone bark, grabbing their attention. "We have grair'canna missing from our ranks. I understand some may be friends or family. But first and foremost we must attempt to locate our li'canna and rali'canna!" His words were a bit deceiving as he had already grown accustomed to the thought of himself as their new chief. The power over the other canines was exhilarating. "We will start on this side of the river. Search for any sign. Any hair or pawprint. Pan out but keep the search thorough, we don't want any chance of missing anything!"
With that he turned his back and began snuffling towards a small section of drowned grass directly off the bank of the river. He stifled a small smile as the constant rains and water had surely washed away any and all signs of the missing chief by this point.
