- RISE - "I am alive, and for your sakes, I should not be." It'd been several days after the Chief's orders had been made public, with high attention casted toward the new pata of Damien and Akoda. There'd been unrest, as was soon growing accustomed to for Ah'mir since Li'Gru'e appointed lead with tension thick as uguru meat. Through it all, Mufara stood by the Alabai's side - an iron hand to his 'charm', or whatever he perceived it to be. In the day, the molosser would catch herself with pointed suggestions, You are losing sway, she'd warn, Perhaps this would win their favor. Like a mamba she insisted he knew what was best for the clan, practically licked the dirt under his paws like some Ran'raugh. Blasphemy, she wanted to cry, strike the man while she hollered at him.
No sound would come, not when he was there. When that pale shadow was out of sight, she'd spit at ground of where he stood. Tightened her teeth when an insult threatened to slip out, or bite at that pompous grin.
As the sun sank, Mufara howled for others to join her in a hunt. "Allow this," she started, "To be the first hunt that our newly appointed Cadets are... gravely encouraged to test their might in." Dark brown eyes glanced toward the nursery before looking toward the dogs who'd joined her. The General didn't stay long, cutting through the base to hurry along; she wouldn't sit tight for stragglers. They either came, or they didn't.
The air smelled of moss and old rain, the ground still somewhat soft from the floods. Large haru-like paws sank into the grass and dirt as the overarching greenhouse grew further away. She wondered, offhandedly, how the former Li'canna would've felt to see the clan in such a state. Would Li'Greyo have approved of the Shadowspeaker and his greed for lout? Or training ren before they were ready? The distain, and mistrust? Dark lips parted to give an exhausted sigh, hoping to wash away the thoughts before progressing forward.
It didn't work.

From almost the moment she'd been named an Ah'mir cadet, Mufara'kah had abandoned the nursery. She had spent that first night tossing and turning, jolting awake and racing out to make sure that the grown-ups hadn't snuck away to complete their jobs without her.
Perhaps it was simply a subconscious fear of abandonment that made her not fully trust her new mentor, Miera'e. After all, both of her parents had left the greenhouse at different times and never returned. Whatever the case, Mufara'kah had eventually found a place between the clan's ele'canna to sleep so that she could keep a watchful eye on their comings and goings.
When all of the adults began to wake, drawn in by the Rali's howl, Mufara'kah was quickly roused. The ren sprang immediately to action, rubbed the gritty sleep from her eyes and bounded from the greenhouse with more energy than most of those shambling canna. She had at least that to her advantage.
The black pup was too young by most clan's standards to be apprenticed, but at first glance one might not even notice. Breeding had lent her a size already twice that of some pups her age. She stood tall and proud next to the grown-ups that encircled Rali'mufara...though her downy baby coat probably did give her age away in the end.
At the mention of herself and her siblings, Mufara'kah's chest puffed proudly and she raised her white-tipped chin high. Of course she'd be a part of the hunt! What would it be? Shu'a? Uguru? Something dangerous, she was sure. Else everyone wouldn't be gathering together like this.
Their target wasn't made clear. Instead, the bigger dog turned and trotted off at a quick pace, leaving Mufara scrambling to catch up with her and the other long-legged canna. She stopped only briefly to look back, hoping to spot the familiar face of a brother or sister before racing through the damp forest after her clanmates. Gosh, they were fast!

This was a bad idea. He could only imagine trying to tell his sister the antics of the new Ah'mir chief. He couldn't imagine taking the Kahru'hu he dug out from the rubble on a hunt with the clan. The fact that Li'Greyo and Akoda had gifted their children with size equal to dogs three times their age (which for being barely months old didn't account for much), did not sway him. No matter what, they were still children. He had watched Kahru get stolen by the river, and by the grace of the gods be delivered back to him. He had already lost Rayli. He couldn't stand idly by as an overgrown ren charged into a hunt only to have their head kicked by a shu'a or their body gored by an uguru.
There was little more than a week between the announcement and this hunt. That was barely enough time to teach the ren how to run without tripping over their paws. He wasn't sure how intense the other mentors had gone with their training, but he tried to instill the basics of hunting into his second cadet as quickly as possible. Gru'e was merciless in making them apprentices because their rations were running low, so he knew that hunting would be the top priority. The skeletal hound heeded the call of Mufara, legs carrying him easily over the ground in an almost effortless lope. His cadet couldn't afford to be left behind, and he couldn't afford to be seen babying them. Gru'e loomed over his shoulder both figuratively and literally at times, and one wrong move and he figured the Chief would take that opportunity to give him swift punishment.

BEWARE - UGURU INCOMING An angry, squealing Uguru approaches the hunting party, digging its gnarly kuruk into the rooted dirt and snorting like a rabid savage! With enough sniffing around, you determine that the pig might have meant to mark this area as his territory - and you canna are pesky trespassers in his forest! It sees the three Ah'mir dogs and prepares for a reckoning - watch your ridna!

Ears stretched to the sky caught scuffling in the underbrush. Those scuffles turned to rumbles, and rumbles to angry snorts of a tusked beast that was quite annoyed by their presence. Not that Castor could blame it. He wasn't here to have fun, he was here on practically conscripted orders to put a child in the way of those tusks. A large child, clumsy and untrained in every sense of the word, and now it would be his fault if an uguru injured it. Castor faced the boar square on, eyes flicking to Mufara (the first one, not the over-zealous child). "Behind us. Now," he hissed, not about to be messed with by the ren he was burdened with.
Their prey had fallen right into the hunting party's claws, now they just had to kill it. That was easier said than done with one dog built of muscle, one of bones, and the other a child in the body of an ele'cannara. The newly appointed Rali'canna was the one in charge of the hunt, and he could respect that more than if Gru'e was, but he still needed the brindle dog to speak so they could get going. "Me left, you both right? I run, it chases, you take down? What's your plan Rali'Haeda'How?" he spoke quietly, not moving anything more than his mouth so as to not provoke the beast more. One good head swing to the side with its tusks and he would be stuck with Tatu until Kahru was old enough to be a full on ele'canna. Neither Mufara couldn't mess this one up.
