TAVI'ELU OF WHY'O CLAN
PERSONALITY ⚘
♔ I've been having this dream that we can fly ♔
It took little time at all for her to be known among the Why'o by a new name: Tavi'elu. Sharp tongue.
Tavi views her time as valuable, so chances are she’s not going to waste yours. Beating around the bush is tedious and boring, and she’d much rather rip the bandaid off quickly than try to sugarcoat things. Lying is beneath her, and she believes that honesty is the best policy (even if, sometimes, a white lie might be kinder). After all, the tavi in her Canna name wasn’t earned just for her appearance. She is not intentionally cruel by any means, but her clanmates are undoubtedly familiar with her sharp tongue by now. Despite this, any dog knows that if they come to her with a problem, she will do her utmost to solve it– even if she gives them grief for getting into a mess in the first place.
In the wake of her mate’s death, she believed love to be lost to her. However, the birth of her pups reopened her eyes to the wonder of affection, tempering her viciousness into more of a ferocious, protective love. She would do anything for her children. As she raises her little ones, teaching them the ways of the world, she in turn relearns how to be kind, and open herself to others. With her heart slowly healing, she at times allows slivers of who she was before shine through, with the occasional flirtatious comment or charming glance slipping to the surface.
HISTORY ⌛
≡ So maybe if we never wake up we can see the sky ≡
It was no surprise that she wasn’t the first to be sold off, but at least she wasn’t the last. However, the young pup took to the life of a pet like a cat takes to water: not well, not well at all. She hated her itchy collar and slow owner and the leash that kept her from run, run, running like she truly desired. So the moment her human let his guard down, she was out the carelessly open front door and into the streets like a missile in dog form, elated to be free.
After a few weeks trying (and occasionally, failing) to make it on her own, she was taken in by the dog who would come to be her mentor. Ryo’ru, named for his fleet-footedness, took a fast liking to the spunky young dog, who could run nearly as fast as her mouth could. Adopting her into Why’o’s ranks, she was raised amongst the clan from there on out, learning the ancient tongue and the ways of the world. Though she still occasionally went by Jinx, she quickly earned her new name: Tavi’elu. There wasn’t a soul who disagreed that it suited her, and she wore it like a badge of honor.
It was there, after a few years, that she met her mate. He was named Udu’far, for the way his singing seemed to claim the hearts around him. It most certainly claimed hers – and, somehow, her own smart mouth and fiery demeanor seemed to claim his in turn. They spent a happy year together before deciding to try for pups.
She fell pregnant soon after. The birth was blessedly uncomplicated, and she welcomed her three little loves into the world. Kira, her little sun. Haka’far, named for the way his cute little cries sounded like the hoarse caw of a crow, and to honor his father’s name. And Lendri, her light. She loved them truly, and could hardly be convinced to leave their sides.
However, one day, she was convinced to take a walk while her mate watched the pups. When she returned, it was to a nightmare: Snags had swooped in to steal her pups away. Her mate’s neck had snapped while attempting to escape the stick-and-rope contraptions that humans liked to use to catch them. He was dead, and her children were crying for her, and she had no time to grieve.
Her battle howl was ferocious, that dreaded why’oooo that her clan had been named for spilling from her throat like a promise of vengeance. She’d managed to savage the hand of one human man before she too was caught by one of those awful sticks with the loop on the end. She was thrown into a cage, her only consolation that she was reunited with her babies.
She was trapped in the shelter with her litter for two days before a great earthquake hit, destroying the building with all of the dogs inside of it. She was able to carry Haka’far and Lendri to safety outside with the help of another stray, but Kira remained in the rubble– and the mother was determined to find her.
