When she had followed Li'Eliri, she figured that she could find a warm place to sleep and some friends to hang out with. Instead, she found a workaholic that insisted on marking huffa and hunting and being a team. Quite frankly, it was exhausting! The poor basset hound hadn't gotten a good night of sleep the whole time she was in the manor. Even sleeping with her ears tucked under her, wrapped tightly around her head hadn't seemed to help against the howls and barks of over-excited, lankier hounds looking forward to the day.
On this fateful morning, the cattle dog mix had sent her out on her very own patrol. Their numbers were still small, and the Chief wanted to make sure that they carved out a good area around their base before anyone else could. While it was a very noble idea, Narr'Mukha was not looking forward to being the one that would have to do it. It was so much work already to clomp down the stairs in the morning, now she had to waddle around in the woods? She was only truly willing to do it because then she could get back and nap all afternoon.
Her goal of naps on her mind was not helping her on her assigned task. It hardly seemed possible, but her eyelids began to droop heavier and heavier until she stepped on her own ear and woke herself up again. Giving a quick shake to try and give herself another chance to try being awake for this practically dawn excursion, Narr continued forward. She managed to mark a few huffa on her mighty quest, but all the exploring really was taking a toll. She wanted to do well for her clan, but it turns out that clanly duties were much more work than she anticipated. It was one fateful sunbeam that sealed the deal. Between the trees it caught her, mid-step it would seem to anyone who could see her as her paws law sprawled out in front and behind in the comfortable light ray. If huffa wasn't enough to keep nefarious canna away from their borders, the snoring loud enough to rival a boar's grunting surely would.

Ralph was wandering, as always. He loved exploring new places and making new friends! He was following a river, it was THE river where he had found his precious bear. Today was no different, well other than a strange smell, but it didnt seem to bother him as he continued on his path. Lazily trotting along the river bank he looked around, tail slightly wagging as he enjoyed the light breeze that the river kicked up. He turned his face to the warm sun and was feeling very content when suddenly something broke the peace in his mind. He snapped his head to the right, over the river. He didnt think it was coming from across that way...so he turned his head to the left and moved his ears, trying to locate the awful growling that errupted so unexpectedly. Ralph could not understand how anyone would show him such hostility without even saying hello!
Instead of running away from the sound, he instead ran towards it! After quickly gliding a few meters, he stopped moved his ears, then ran some more. Finally he turned sround a log, the sound had only grown louder and to his suprise was a hound sleeping away on the forest floor. His tail began to wag, as he thought he'd found a new friend! He noisily padded over to her, unaware of social cues when it comes to other sleeping dogs, he walked right up to her and laid on his belly. His nose pushed into the dirt and he stared at the sleeping hound, completly intrigued at the way she slept made the loudest sound he had ever heard. He debated on waking her up, but he wanted to be friends! Even before the earthquake his socialization with other dogs was limited and very inexperienced. She smelt like other dogs, this made him both nervous and excited. More dogs meant more friends, but he wants to live on his terms and he knew dogs sometimes did not like that. His ears flexed as he contemplated what to do next.

snOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE hufff SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE schnonk She hadn't had an early morning nap in a good long while since Li'Eliri had become her new boss. Back in the good old days with her grimm, she could spend all day in a sunbeam, only getting up to move around the house following it. What a great life that was. She could even have blankets, here all she had was leaves and the occasional patch of moss, which was nice, but not anywhere close to the real thing! Her face twitched as she dreamed of being spread back onto laminated wood floorboards heated by the glorious ball of fire in the sky. Her nose twitched again when consciousness so rudely hurried her back to the waking world. Heavy eyelids cracked open to find the face of another dog right in front of her, far too close by anyone's standards. She blinked hard, pushing a little more sleep aside to make sure this wasn't still part of some dream. Yup. Nope. Definitely a strange dog right in front of her as she slept. "Whoa there," she yawned, getting to her feet and scooting backwards a few inches, "You really know how to sneak! I didn't hear you come up." It was only after a few seconds that the stout basset hound realised that she was supposed to be patrolling the borders, and someone coming right up past them maybe wasn't what Li'Eliri had in mind. Pushing her chest a little further forwards, she mustered up her most authoritative voice, "What are you doing on Grair'far lands?" The brick of a dog didn't have much chance of actually intimidating, let alone stopping, this tall stranger if he decided to carry on his merry way, but at least she could say she did something.

Ralph's tail wagged as the interesting canna awoke. He stared intently as she got to her feet and looked up towards him. He grinned at her, though she seemed to be mad at him for some reason. She asked him a question, that honestly made no sense to him. "Grair' Far? What is a ' Grair' Far'?" , he sat down and scratched his ear, hoping to make the other canna relax. He didn't like all this tension, especially when he couldn't understand why it was there. He was still confused why this canna was sleeping in the middle of the day, but no matter, she was awake now and they were going to be the best of friends, he was sure of it! He quickly asked another question, not aware of his behavior being a bit rude, " Are there more of you? Do you all sleep like that? " he wanted to make lots and lots of friends. He stopped scratching himself and moved into a laying position so that this canna could look him in his face better, his front paws and face forward to her, but his hind legs were laid to one side. He was clearly relaxed and excited to have a conversation.

She wasn't sure if the flaps of skin on her face could convey her flabbergasted expression, they might just get the flab, but she for sure acted shocked that this stranger hadn't heard of Grair'far. For a canna that had only joined the clan by following them to their pell'galu a few weeks ago, she sure played the part Eliri would want her to. "What is a Grair'far?! Only the best clan whose territory you're currently standing on!" She boofed, chest still puffed and proud.
As the big weirdo gave himself a scratch and flopped himself down, Narr's facade of pridefulness faltered. This guy really had her best interests in mind. Laying down? Having a scratch? Maybe she needed to start her own clan where they could just relax all day! "There are a lot more of us, but I'm the best sleeper. Don't tell anyone, but we're not supposed to really be sleeping, but Li'Eliri made me wake up soooo early to go on this morning patrol, and I just couldn't help it that my eyes closed!" Her grin, she supposed, should have been sheepish, but instead was friendly. "Oh! Do you want to meet Li'Eliri? I'm sure Grair'far could always use more ele'canna, and you seem pretty okay!" This stranger couldn't have run into a friendlier face if he tried. Hopefull,y they could actually stay friends if he joined the clan!
