There's so much hate for the ones we love,
tell me we both matter... don't we?
The familiar pitter patter tanging off the metal roof of the train cart was soothing. Not hard enough or windy enough to blow through the open door or cold enough to set a chill into the bones. It was just... pleasant. Shaska couldn't help but sigh softly as he felt some of his stress melt off his shoulders as he listened. The scent of the storm filled each inhale - a welcome break from the sharp scent of herbs that so often invaded his nose. The peace was uncommon these days. Ever since the other pata had vanished in the flodd, there had been a tension that invaded the Clan. An understandable tension, of course - an entire pata swept away was no small thing - but an exhausting one all the same.
The young Canna rested his cheek against the cool metal of the car and stared out into the train yard blankly. It was nice to simply... not think about anything, if only for the moment. The privacy felt like a rare treasure. He knew that most were delighted with the tight knit affection, but he preferred solitude. Not to say he would consider leaving - he loved his home and Clan. He appreciated knowing others were around, he just wished they would leave him alone more often.
Unfortunately, that day was like any other - solitude could only stretch on so long.

Cue Yeli'kah, completely oblivious to the fact that his brand-new cadet was quietly enjoying a moment of solitude. Yeli'kah himself didn't know the meaning of the word. He'd been up since daybreak chattering to his clanmates, hovering around his former apprentice Inda, (until he was shooed away) and gathering herbs and mental lesson-plans to share with little Rayli - A tough nut to crack, but he knew potential when he saw it!
The little chihuahua mix trotted over and sat himself down confidently close to the wrinkled cadet in the doorway of the old railcar, painfully aware that the ren was already close to his own size, and huffed a sigh as he peered out at the dreary downpour outside.
"What a day! Ipididididi..." He said without waiting for the youngster to speak - or leave. "If the rain keeps going on like this, the railcars might start floating away." And then, again without waiting for an answer, he half-subconsciously delved right into a mini-lesson. "Did you know that there's a mira that only blooms in rain? You could pour water on it again and again all day long and nothing will ever happen. But when it rains, a pretty little pink blossom pops right out. It doesn't like being forced into things before its ready, I guess.
It's great for curing stuffy noses, but if you eat too many petals you could get really sick to your stomach. Best taken in small doses."
The mottled owi finally quieted to allow the younger dog to drink in his sudden appearance and onslaught of chatter, all the while keeping his muzzle turned out towards the pelting rain beyond their shelter.
