LI'NAVIRA'E HU'GRAIR OF WHY'O CLAN
Loud, carefree, impulsive, brash and always down to play. These are the traits that make up Navira. She is a textbook Why'o just emerging from her puppy years, still full of energy and life and hope. There is nothing that Navira loves more than dog-piling with her clan or racing through the streets, howling at the top of her lungs that she's winning the race. The mixed breed is quick on her feet and can turn sharp angles on a dime. It is clear that Navira'e Hu'Grair is Why'o Clan through and through.
However, she has also earned a second name for herself due to a very un-Why'o trait. "Grair'fli." Thousand Birds. While Why'os are typically known for their impulsive actions and their readiness to act - and act loudly - Navira has mastered the art of "turning it all off" so that she can quietly, patiently sneak up on birds and other small prey.
This feature wasn't gifted - no, far from it. Navira worked very hard for it, practicing daily until she was satisfied with herself. She really wanted to catch those birds. And...for some reason, felt like the skill would come in handy some day. Call it intuition or maybe even boredom. Hunting birds was a lot more fun than rifling through trash cans.
In the wake of the earthquake, however, Navira has begun to exhibit new personality traits. Fear and doubt, guilt over her part in her clan-mates being captured. Stress over her newfound role as Chief and a constant feeling as though she is a pup playing a game of pretend. She is determined to make a good Why'o Chief. Maybe even one that will go down in history. But she can't shake the thought that it never would happened if their own chief and general hadn't vanished...
Navira'e Hu'Grair was born and raised in Why'o Clan along with her pata sister, Ra'rimiri Grair'ow. Their parents were multi-generational Why'os, so the two had a long history behind them of rough racers. Navira was no exception. She was practically born running and took to clan life like a duck to water. She meshed right in with the rest of the pack.
When Ridna had blinked three times over the course of Navira's life, she was separated from her sister - A born owi - And made into an ele'cannara. A prospective member of the clan. A hunter, gatherer, runner and scout. A jack of all trades. Navira fell immediately in love with her new tasks. She loved being out on the streets, learning and running alongside her mentor. She loved exploring, racing just beyond the fingertips of disgruntled snags, meeting new clans...just as Ra was born to be an owi, Navira was born to be a cadet. And when she was finished with her day, she would race back home and let the stories spill back out for her sister to hear. It never occurred to her that she might be sowing seeds of jealousy for Ra'rimiri.
In time Navira grew into a full-fledged ele'canna Why'o - A popular, trusted one at that. It was in this way that Navira found herself one day leading a patrol of both owi and ele'canna through the busy town's streets...and straight into danger. She didn't see the snags. She didn't realize that the pack was being flushed right into a trap. One wrong turn was all it took and the whole party was captured, carted off to that blasted animal prison to await their fate.
It was there that the earthquake began and Navira got her second chance at leadership...this time on a much grander scale than she ever would have anticipated.
All of Navira's family save her sister is gone. She lost her mentor, mother and father in the earthquake's disappearances. All she has left is Ra'rimiri and she currently has no real clue that her sister might be fostering a bit of a grudge against her.
