Every Why’o knew their prison home like the back of their paw. With the maze of repetitive hallways and endless cells, it was easy to get lost once a dog left the comfortable familiarity of the cafeteria. It was the perfect natural defense against intruders, but meant that young and new initiates were under a lot of pressure to learn all the twists and turns. Now that her little brats were big enough to get themselves into trouble, Tavi’elu figured they were also old enough to start to learn their way around. Her little game would test their noses and their memorization, and hopefully help them start to get the hang of their home. She had woken the trio of puppies just a few minutes prior, and led them on a winding path through hallways, up stairs, down a different set of stairs, around a bend… and more. Now, after a great deal of walking, the svelte dog finally stopped and turned to face her three little loves. ”Alright, kiddos! I hope you were paying attention, because now I want you to try and find your way back.” She grinned down at Haka’far, Lendri, and Kira, her thin tail wagging to and fro. ”You three are Why’os which means you all have to learn three things. You’ve gotta learn your way around the prison, learn to be fast, and of course learn our howl. But don’t worry, you’ve got lots of time to get it down. It’s okay if you don’t get everything right away.” She lowered her head to plant a loving lick between the brows of each of her ren. ”Kah’rara put one of those human meat slabs you three like back at the cafeteria, so once you find your way back you have a little treat! I’ll be here to help you if you need it, but try to work together before you ask me for help, okay? And feel free to practice that howl while you go.” She suggested with a grin. ”Now, hlei pell u’ren! (find home you pups!)”Haka'far Kira Lendri

As she trailed after her mother Kira idly wondered exactly what was going on, She yawned as she turned to glance at her siblings wondering what they were thinking as well. Though the pup was a bit disgruntled from being woken up it was overshadowed by her curiosity about the situation. Kira could feel a hesitant excitement surface as they twisted through this maze of a prison.
Following her mother down the stairs she continued to stew in her curiosity and the excitement of the unknown. Taking in the imposing brick walls as they wandered farther and farther into this unfamiliar territory. Kira isn’t one to wander her home especially knowing that dogs can and have gotten lost in it. So many of these halls were new to her.
Finally the group ground to a halt, her snout scrunched slightly as her mother turned and gave her a lick but she enjoyed the attention. Her ears perked as she took in her mothers words. So this was some sort of challenge then. Interesting. She salivated at the mention of meat now that she thought of it Kira was a bit peckish and she will probably be even more so after this adventure. A small woo left her mouth at the mention of their howl that is one thing Kira is excited to learn. Kira pulled herself into focus at her mothers final words. Right! She did remember a little bit of the structure but she didn’t feel quite confident about it.
She turned to face her siblings “Okay, What do you two remember about the route here?” Kira knew that it would be beneficial to all of them if they put their heads together. And they could potentially cut down a bit of endless meandering time if they were to all give up what they remembered.

"ARE YOU SURE THIS WATER'S SANITARY? IT LOOKS QUESTIONABLE TO ME!"
|
| Lendri trotted happily at the tail end of his little group, occasionally turning to take in the long, shadowy hallways that stretched out behind, or to peer warily down a flight of crumbly stairs after they had reached the top. There were a few times that his family almost got away from him, but he'd turn and scamper after them just before they turned a corner and disappeared from sight.
Just when he thought that his mother was going to lead them through the prison forever, she stopped and turned and gave a little speech that made Lendri's tail and ears droop nervously. He'd been practicing his howling and he was getting really good at running. But this new challenge sounded really scary.
When it was his turn to receive a lick on the head, he leaned in eagerly to take his share of affection from Tavi, and at the same time murmured nervously, "What if we can't do it? Does that mean we get kicked out to live with Ah'mir?" It had been a fear of his ever since a snappy healer had threatened to trade him to the forest-dwelling clan after he'd snuck into the Why'os herb storage with Haka'far to taste-test flowers.
But then Kira was talking, ever one to take charge, and he turned and perked his floppy ears in her direction. His sister had a way of making her brothers listen. In the moment Lendri found it very comforting. At least one of them knew what they were doing!
Lendri shook his head hard, making his weakly standing ears flop comically.
"No." He started, and then opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again before speaking. He probably looked like that gaping rapha that Li'Navira had brought home yesterday! "But, look." He pointed with his nose at the floor of the hallway that they had last come down. "We left paws in the dirt."
It was true. Kind of. In certain particularly dusty parts of the concrete, the small pawprints of pata could be seen. Lendri had noticed it earlier when he'd zoned out while following his family. He'd spent quite a few minutes scuffling along or taking really long steps...pretending that he was a really big or really small dog until he'd realized that the effort had caused him to lag behind too much, at which point he gave up the game.
It was a patchy trail, but it was a start! Lendri wagged his slightly feathered tail proudly. And then his excitement finally started to bubble up and he began to chatter new ideas as quickly as they reached his head. "Maybe we can use those to find our way back to things that we know better! Or, or maybe if we started a really big Why'o howl, the clan would start howling too, and we could listen to where they sound is coming from!"

Haka'far had followed his mother throughout their prison home, moving at a confident march as he led the way ahead of his siblings. He was not entirely certain of the point of traveling the winding, endless halls but he had no reason to distrust his mama. She knew everything and he prided himself in believing he knew nearly as much.
He listened intently at the large dog's speech and her expectations of them. His tall ears flopped a bit as the cartilage had not yet firmed enough for them to stand entirely upright as he tilted his head, implying she had his full attention. His gaze shifted over to his sister as she began to speak. Haka smirked a bit in response to her. Of course he knew the way! He knew everything! But Lendri broke the silence before he was able to voice his opinions. As his brother spoke his eyes followed downwards towards the ground, noting the paw prints on the floor. Well, his younger brother was right about one thing.
"Lendri..." he answered when the other pup had finished his suggestion, "You are such a ya-ya! Don't you know the paws end where we are? If we follow them we will just end up back here!" His statements were full of confidence and his logic - in his mind - was infallible. The prints pointed towards their current location. They couldn't follow them forward any farther than they already were.
"It's okay, though," he started cheerfully. "I know the way!" At that, Haka'far bounded off with confidence down the hall until turning his first corner. He paused briefly and turned completely around. "No, wait... This way!" He took a few bounding leaps forwards before stopping again. "Or... was it that way...?"

- THE SUN'S CHILD - Kira rolled her eyes at her brother's unearned confidence and bumbling attempt at finding their way. Even though she was also unaware of where exactly they were. Turning to yell at her brother as he bounded away.
“Farry! The prints came from that way! We can just go the other way and follow them. It’s not like they disappeared when we stopped being by them” Honestly Kira thought that Haka’Far was the Ya-Ya, not Lendri. With a huff, she strutted back over to the footprint leaving Haka’far to come back on his own. Turning back to study the Pawprints she stared curiously at them. Dusting a paw over the final set of prints and smearing it slightly.
“C'mon Lendri, Let’s go follow these.” With a slightly similar confidence to her brother, she walks off her head low to the floor to follow the pawprints. Going at a more sedate pace to make sure she didn’t lose them. She was eager to impress her mother and thought if she could get back faster than Haka'far it could help with that. So she trotted on not even checking if Lendri had followed her. Simply trotting ahead with a vigor.

| Lendri's excitement died with a drooping tail as his brother took over the conversation...and started calling him names. He lowered his head with embarrassment, though his brow remained furrowed, confused with Haka's logic. He wasn't about to speak up though. Not when his ideas got shot down like that, nope, he'd learned his lesson! Haka was the boss.
Except, right then, just as he was debating following his brother as Haka disappeared around a corner, the other boss spoke up. His head whipped around with surprise when Kira defended his idea.
"Wait, I was right?" He said, turning to trot off after his sister. He had a lot less doubts about following her...at least this time. Her logic sounded a lot like his logic, and it definitely made more sense than whatever Haka had been saying. Once again his tail began to wag, just a teeny little bit. "Okay, I'm coming! Should we uh..should we go and get Haka though?"
As he spoke, he turned around and started walking backwards again, peering off down the hall in the hopes that their brother would show up. Mother would probably give them a failing score on this quiz if they misplaced Haka'far.

The young ren carried himself with an unearned sense of confidence, though internally he was panicking about which way was correct. He would never let his siblings know this, however, for they obviously looked up to him for his leadership skills. Haka'far did not want to let them down. He scurried about in the dust-covered concrete halls looking for a clue.
Reddish-brown tinted ears perked up at the sound of whispered voices. Specifically he had heard his name coming from the sound of the lighter ren. Kira and Lendri were conspiring against him! Wait, those weren't whispers - he turned around quickly to find the two had wandered off without him - they were distant echoes. His heartbeat quickened, he could hear each pulse within his front-flopped ears. The smallest of whimpers crawled up his throat, escaping from the corners of his mouth. What if they had gotten themselves lost? A flare of determination set behind the pup's eyes. Haka'far would find them, he would help them, and he'd be the hero. With his tongue lolling from his mouth he bounded forward at a playful, bouncing stride until he came across the two.
"You silly rens, you went the wrong way," he boasted, tackling at Lendri as he approached. With a playful leap he placed his front paws on his younger brother's shoulders in a half-hearted show of dominance. He wouldn't dare do the same to Kira as she would possibly dispute his claim and he had no time for that. He had to get the trio back to the rest of the ele'canna. With a wag of his tail he used Lendri's shoulder to launch himself into a quick trot to the front of the small pack.
Following his sister's gaze, he noted they were following the paw print track again. That put the theory at a two-to-one vote against him. Maybe there was something to this suggestion? He smiled and jumped in front of her, pacing her with at an awkward step as he walked backwards. "I mean, I was just testing you," he stated, his voice sly as the lie slid from his tongue. "Yeah! And you pass! You're the cleverest sister I know." Haka'far's comment was genuine and he allowed his small ren voice to ring out in the halls. "But not Lendri," he added softly, his tone carrying a strong hint of playfulness. Looking down at his feet so as to not lose his footing, the red-tinted dog noticed his tracks were backwards similar to the trail they were following. Of course! It had all been a trick! He failed to recognize both that the tracks had been left by the trio and their mother as well as the fact that they did not walk far into the base backwards the whole time. No, he had figured it out.
A sharp yelp escaped the young canna's lips in surprise as his rear hit something solid and slightly sharp. He stopped dead in his tracks, his only movement being a swift turn to face his offender. A small pile of concrete lay on the floor. No doubt a remnant of the Rozo'ama Akoda. He turned back towards his siblings, with folded ears and his lips pulled back he gave an embarrassed smile before bouncing forward to continue their adventure.
