Reddish-brown ears hung low as the grey-speckled body shivered in a strong sense of fear and confusion. The coonhound had never before been surrounded by so many of her own kind yet felt so alone. It had been days since the pack had been brought in by their master. While she was no stranger to moving between homes - as she had once been moved from her birth pack to her current family - she had not expected anything of this sort or magnitude to have occurred. It felt as though it was an eternity ago when she had last run by her comrades' sides, baying wildly as they caught the scent of a nearby kah'rayli. She felt her red-dappled tail curl beneath her, making herself as small as she currently felt. It could not be helped that whenever one of the grimm had passed by, hauling a snarling canna who fought them every step of the way, that she would dita'du alo in anticipation for any sort of interaction. Had she ever acted so callously? She could not recall. From her memory she could only recall walking calmly on the tether that the grimm often placed around her and her fellow hounds whenever they wanted to hold some semblance of control over the mufara. The cries and calls of the others that remained locked beyond her reach pulled at her heart strings. How she longed to do anything she could to calm them, yet her prior attempts at speaking with them had been for naught. The stress and anxiety left an electric feeling in the air. Letting her sorrow and loneliness overtake her, the female lifted her nose to the sky and let out a long, heart-wrenching far. Her howling carried over the frantic and manic barks of her contemporaries. After letting the call ring out she lowered her muzzle and cocked her head, perking an ear to listen for any form of response. She gave others only a moment to continue with their crazed growls before letting out another lonely cry. She continued on, pausing briefly between each song to await a response. Any response would do. Though she longed to hear the voice of her brother or those she knew she deeply ached for a friend. For the time being, her number one priority was to stave off her solitary confinement in a room of grair'canna, not knowing that the real trials had yet to even begin.

Li’Eliri’Kuruk paced in his cage, hackles raised and muscles stiff. Trying to draw his thoughts away from the coiling, dark feeling in the pit of his stomach. A tense atmosphere lingered in the air, and he knew the other canna could feel it too. He sensed it in their frenzied barks and howls.
It wasn’t helped by the dread that lingered in the pit of his stomach. Something just felt strange, and it was throwing Eliri off more than it usually would. With a grunt, he shook himself. Trying to clear away the lingering premonitions before he got lost in them.
Stilling for a moment, his drooping ears perked at the low mournful howl that rang out above the other canna’s calls. The pure emotion contained in the sound rousing him to act, to escape this prison alongside his clan and any others who will join them. To make a better life for each and every dog. So he would never have to hear such a mournful sound again. Making up his mind, he turned toward the door of his cage before clearing his throat. His tone was firm and authoritative as he barked out his orders. Demanding the respect of all canna nearby.
"Grair’far, report to your Li’canna!”

That was the word Elier'Inda would use to describe the environment around her. The tight space was difficult to endure for the energetic and impatient gun dog - especially now that she felt alone with her worries. She hadn't even heard her father or sister's voices. With the severity of her sister's injuries, how was she to know if Emlier was even alive? The thought pained her deeply. To not know if she needed to be grieving. Though her family's voices were not among the calls, others frequently let out mournful fars and little yips. Others tried to speak to one another through the walls. All of it was enough to send Eli up the wall. As was, she spent a great deal of her time pacing the length of her tiny enclosure. [break][break] The sound of an unknown dog's far sounded like it might be adjacent to her own prison. Like so many others, it was a painful sad sound. A canna trapped with no other way to express their distress if she had to guess. She felt empathy for them and lifted her head to momentarily join the song with her own - attempting to somehow offer comfort by the mere acknowledgement that the other was heard. [break][break] Shortly after she dropped the call, another stranger spoke. Her gaze passed toward the gate and she pressed herself against it to listen. She knew little of the packs that roamed Kah'ren, having never interacted with a wild dog before entering containment. She couldn't help the curiousity she felt for whatever it was that the proclaimed Li'canna would say to whichever of his followers were locked away.
