Tucked into the forest surrounding Kah’ren is a crumbling railyard. The trains grow cold and silent, the elements taking their toll on the creations of men. Beneath, between, and around these trains there are signs of dogs. Small paw prints litter the ground, though their owners are rarely seen. This is the home of the Rithr’Fliks. They know the lands like the fur on their bodies. Small gaps and crevices in the breaking building and trains are exploited by these canna to hide their stronghold. It is a maze, one that was once made complex by the ever-shifting trains, but now that they have silenced, the opportunities for expansion grow.

The lucrative home of the Rithr’Flik clan is a closely guarded secret to those outside of its ranks. The clan is boisterous and bright, life erupting from within the railyard walls. It is here that their own stash is guarded and protected, and where clan life mostly takes place.

The Ants may be a bit rough and tumble, but they are, beyond anything else, a family. Their tight-knit ranks are difficult to join, but not impossible, but it is expected that once you become a member of this family, you will be for life.

CHARACTERISTICS

Small

A Rithr’Flik dog is one that can squeeze through the gaps and tunnels created over generations. They are typically under a foot tall, and are generally intolerant to medium-sized to larger dogs joining their ranks

Sharp

Small size means larger brains are needed to make their place in the world. Dogs in Rithr’Flik are crafty and inventive. Through their thieving endeavours, canna have to know how to both follow instructions and improvise if things go wrong. Militant soldiers will find themselves tested by the looser nature of Pullings.

Loyal

Once an ant, always an ant. There is safety in numbers, and those who endanger that safety or betray it are seen as Restephus Udu - those with a wicked heart. The bond between clanmates is considered near-sacred. Conflicts are bound to erupt, but threatening the entire clan’s livelihood is not tolerated.

Opportunistic

Rithr’Flik dogs know how to make a good deal, and strike negotiations in their favour. They are willing to make deals with other clans - treatises for them to avoid Pullings in exchange for mutual benefit, or for protection in exchange for shelter in the rail yard. Rithr’Flik dogs both make and take opportunities that benefit the clan.

TRADITIONS

Pullings

A staple of Rithr’Flik life is Pullings. Teams of 4-8 dogs typically sneak into the territory of other clans and plunder their resources. Those put in charge of these pulls have considerable experience and leadership skills - they are recognised as a pseudo-superior rank on these hunts, and the dogs partaking should heed their commands. It is important to note that Rithr’Flik Pullings never take the entirety of a clan’s stash. The clan being stolen from must retain enough resources to survive. It is only the excess that can be pulled.

Running The Rails

When humans ruled the world, the rumbling of the trains would be almost deafening. When a canna hit one year of age, the clan would celebrate by running alongside one of the thundering night trains, howling into the skies and singing songs as they ran. It was a celebration of adulthood and triumph in completing their training. Now that the trains have ceased to move, the ceremony continues along the tracks themselves, rather than beside them.

CLAN BASE

The home of the Rithr’Fliks is the large building that once housed freight behind the trains. On one side, it borders the thick oak forest surrounding Kah’ren. On another, lay the dormant trains. A cracked road from the other side leads to the city’s centre, the winding trail often abandoned in favour of shortcuts.

The Chief has made her den in the old control room of the warehouse, the jacket of a vanished human repurposed into her bed. There are blankets and other articles of clothing scattered around the warehouse for all to use, as well as the resources gathered from Pullings. Most of the clan live within the walls, but Mouse has not set a hard limit. Those who wish to make their dens under the frozen trains or around the tracks are permitted, so long as they are not obvious to the untrained eye.
